New Member From Texas
Hi everyone. I'm from Texas, I have one loving husband, two great dogs and one very vocal cat. It had been our dream for a while to move into a motorhome full-time - we are already used to living in very small spaces having lived in a pull behind for several years - and we decided to sell everything we own and buy one. So, we did. We bought a vintage 1973 Minnie Winnie. She had some engine trouble amongst a slew of other things, however her inside was quite gorgeous and without much damage at all. We brought her back and put her in RV storage and are working on her there. We took a completely non-working vehicle, and yesterday, after a few weeks of repair, I'm happy to say she drives! We still have some work to do. I'm keeping a detailed blog about it here, a full photoblog here, and some videos here. I am always interested in blogs about RV repair, so if you have one please let me know and I'll follow you! I hope to get to know you guys. =)

Welcome! My husband didn't start his blog until most of his repairs were done but you can find him at the link below. On his blog is a link to all of the photos from the process.

Thanks! I look forward to reading the blog. I put a link to it on my blog, I hope you don't mind. I see he just recently put up solar panels. I haven't read the post yet, but how's it working for you so far? We're going to do it soon.

WOW a '73 Winnebago, lol. Great to see another rig brought back from death. Mine sat around for 10 years before I had it towed home. Take pride in these things. Les

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I'll definitely look more into Texas Boomers, they seem like a friendly group.
PNW: Any pics of your travel trailer?
73Indian: Same question? (Other than the one in your icon!)

If you have time to waste just click my blog and look at the pictures. Or an album of my roof replacement is here. Or take a look at this site for Classic Winnebagos and Vintage RV's . Les

I saw your roof replacement pictures. Did you have experience with it before you did it? Any suggestions for leaking around an a/c?

Amber, odds are the rubber gasket that sandwiches between the roof and the A/C unit has rotted out or become loose (they have to be retightened over time). Remove the inside shroud and you'll be able to see the bolts and the gasket.
If its an old Dometic or Duo-Therm unit, you can still find replacement gaskets. Its just a matter of undoing the bolts and having a roof that can handle the A/C unit being moved off its main mount so that the area can be cleaned and resealed before the installation of the new gasket and the remounting of the A/C unit.

Here is an article to look at. How Do I Brace a Sinking RV Roof? The whole question is that if the AC has pushed down on the roof for 37 years, it might be lower than the rest of the roof. You should probably look at posts on roof repairs so we can talk this through. I have more ideas.........

Well I can definitely say that the roof is in relatively good condition. It doesn't sag anywhere and there are no signs of water damage. The a/c seems to be dripping when it rains and no water actually touches the roof itself.. I guess? It's something we'll have to see.
Thanks for the link! Yes, I see now that we need to replace the gasket. We'll dig up some more info on that and do it asap. The top cover needs replacing too so we might as well do that while we're at it.

I removed it for personal reasons, but I saved a back up in case I want to put it back up again.
