Well folks, decided to jump on iRV2.com & try to be a helpful member if I can. I guess first though, I should ask you all, if at times you would forgive me of my short comings should any come up, because I'll probably have a few when trying to understand things that I dont know about, so thank you for that in advance.
I'm an old hillbilly, born in the foot hills of NC, but live in the eastern part of NC since 1964.
Being born in that part of the USA, NC, if you dont have some type of racing in your blood, somewhere along your route during life, I guess one could get misguided & not have that, but it stuck with me, so that is me something to do with some type of racing till the good Lord takes me home.
Been a camper for over 30 years now, starting out in a Chevy van with home made beds in the back. Didnt know enough about camping at that time, did not even have a Colman pump up stove, but BOY did I get hooked.
When your camping on top of Sugar Mountain NC in the fall, man it is like God is trying to tell you something. Cool, NO bugs AT all, cant ask for any better.
Later we moved up & got a small hard side 4 sleeper pop up. Spent quite a few years in that, learning more as we went.
One of the things, that really let us know what we were doing was the right place for us, the people you meet at the C/Gs, you people.
I was just amazed at how people can be, never had been treated to such kindness.
Pull in to a C/G in the evening kind of late, me setting up & wife, she stirring up something for dinner best she can. Then man comes up from across the drive, hangs a light up so wife can see what shes doing,, thought you folks might could use this & yes we did.
Next, lady from beside those folks, she comes up with some covered dishes in her hands,,, we had this left over from dinner you can have if you like. At that point, I just stopped & sat down, thinging oh my God & didnt know there were people like this in the world.
So needless to say, is there any other way to go threw life other than camping.
I learned from those early days, I guess I was being told how it should be & that is how wife & myself try to carry our self when camping, respectful, caring & helpful to others that may be of need to show we care like those had shown to us.
Threw the years we have upgraded several times, larger pop up, TT, Trans Van, old model class A, little newer model class A & now the 99 H/R Vacationer. No pusher yet & will probably be quite a few years from now before we can move that big, but untill then, a gas rig will have to do.
Might be a time we may meet out on the highways, can never tell, cause we travel a lot during a years time with our racing family, all over the east & out mid west way, so if you see a H/R Vacationer with a white 24' box behind it, give us a wave & I'll return one & know that we are enjoying the life of camping.
My user name, C-Leigh Racing, that came from our oldest daughter Caraleigh.
Her friends at school nick named her cleigh, & after she was killed by a drunk with no drivers license in 92, It just stuck with me & I ended up using that as our race team name & my user name on the sites I go to.

Hi Neil! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us! We love the mountains of NC, usually spending about a month in Maggie Valley in the fall. If all our family wasn't around here, we would definitely be moving up there! Sounds like you've had some wonderful adventures. Have fun and God bless!

Hi Neil: Welcome to IRV2. This is an extention of all those nice folks you met out there. I've found the same thing. Campers are the nicest folks you could ever meet. We've never been out your way, but it sure is on my bucket list. Have a great time, both here and on the road.

Thank you folks for the warm & kind welcome.
Joe & Annette,
funny you should mention Maggie Valley, because that is where we had that wonderful experience with those two kind people. That was one of the reason we are still camping, you never forget an experience like that.
Been down your way, Columbus MS, many times over the years as well, pulling loads to the ol Mitchell Engineering plant & bring a load back to Rocky Mount NC. Was a good run & paid good as well.

Hi Neil, I have to agree with you on all points, Just a great group of people. Love racing as well, the both of us. We've been camping since the mid 60's, and tenting at that, like you have moved up over the years with every type of rv that they make. We've stayed camping because we have never had a bad day camping, rain or shine it never takes the smile off peoples faces. Hope to see you in our travels. Keep safe.
