New member here in Alabama

Hello iRV2

Newbie here in northeast Alabama. I retired in September ’14. Bought our toy hauler (Forrest River Gray Wolf) in November. I took our first shake-down trip that same month, to Gulf Shores State Park Alabama. This is a great place to stay in the Gulf Shores / Orange Beach area. We are hooked, we LOVE RVing. Our next trip is planned for March, 1st stop is Tarpon Springs FL. After eating our way thru all the Greek restaurants in the area, it’s off to Key West. We will stay at the Flamingo State Park in the glades, and day trip to Key West.
We have a somewhat unique need RVing. My wife is in a wheelchair. (powerchair) Which is why we when with a toy hauler. Any other RVers out there with special needs who can give us newbies some insight?
The forum here is great, very informative and helpful.

Welcome to the club! Since every one of us could one day be in the same position, I think your experiences will benefit us more than you know

What questions have you developed so far that we might try to answer?

It would be nice to find handicap friendly camping / RV sites. We tend to look for State Park sites for this reason. Also, my wife is a access pass holder with the Federal Recreation Lands system. This allows us to stay at 1/2 price.

We stayed at some COE parks that had cement pad with cement tables with the top extended to allow access for a wheelchair.

Enjoy this RV lifestyle.
