New member in GA

Just recently joined this helpful and informative site. We just purchased a 2014 27.2 Thor ACE... Can't wait to use but we had it winterized at the dealership just in time for our run of 20 degree weather in GA....Spring can't come soon enough!! Have reserved several weekends at a fantastic COE campground on Lake Lanier when it opens back up... Also reserved a week during our Spring Break at Ft Wilderness in FLA...

How terrible that you had to winterize your new Rv before you even got to use it! I guess you can spend the winter planning trips.

Welcome, look at the National IRV2 Rally in Sept, it will be a great opportunity to put faces with some names. I know that may be scary! Anyway, welcome!

Welcome to the club! First thing to learn is how to safely "not winterize". Great camping in Dec. - Mar. just have to be ready when the good temps. come along.

Welcome. We live in GA, too. Northeast, in Flowery Branch. We camp year-round, so I don't fully winterize my coach. There's some great winter camping around here! Is the COE park you mentioned Old Federal? We've camped there many times and really like it.

We live in Jefferson and I was referring to Old Federal. Where do you camp during the winter months?

We'll go to Fort Yargo in Winder, Mocassin Creek, Amicalola Falls (once, probably not again because of the steep hill), Stone Mountain, Unicoi. Stone Mountain is the only full hook up, but that doesn't really matter too much to us. We like Yargo a lot-hiking, biking, fishing, etc.

I recommend that as a new member you undergo the first ISX transplant into a non ISX rig, you'll be able to go up that hill with breeze. Plus you can blog about it for all the rest of us to read!

Winter camping. We enjoy Sugar Mill up close to Burton and recently rediscovered River Forks in Gainesville. A little farther up is Peace Valley in Murphy NC. Murphy is a nice little town and Cherokee is not to far away. Get your coat and come on out. It's fun.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new ride. Nice choice. Have a son in Albany and he has been complaining about the cold, but nothing close to what we have had the last couple of weeks.....
