Hello everyone. I am glad to be here. My wife and I are preparing to do a great deal more travelling. I have retired out of the Army and am in grad school to get my teaching endorsement/masters in teaching. My wife teaches 5th grade. Beginning next summer we should be able to travel non-stop from mid-June to mid-August.

Because we have two boys who will both be 14 by then and we have 4 dogs, our options for RV'ing within our budget is pretty specific. We looked at motorhomes, but for the amount of travelling we want to do, they were going to be really spendy. So we are opting to run with a truck and fiver.

I got unbelievably lucky and scored my truck three days ago.

A 2017 Ram 4x4 Crew Cab with a 6 speed manual with only 8k miles. After driving various sticks in the Army, I remain not intimidated by a stick in a truck.

We are much more patient where the fiver is concerned. It will need to be a bunkhouse and it will need to be equipped with a generator for running a/c in austere conditions, but I can add that. We just need to have one by next summer. heh.

I joined this forum to learn about the ins and outs of RV'ing. This site comes highly recommended and I look forward to becoming less ignorant about travelling on this awesome continent.

Thanks, Mike.
