New Member Initiation
I was told to post in the 'new members' section upon validating my e-mail, so here it is!
I've been reading RV forums for the past year while full-timing in my 1987 Tiffon Allegro Motorhome. I've done a lot of work to the ole' house-on-wheels but occasionally come to a dead end when I'm not sure how to repair/replace something (most recently my propane lines).
I'm hoping that others on this site can offer me some best practices and guidance for my problems. I grew up on a farm in western Maine so I have a pretty good amount of practical knowledge under my belt, but there's always PLENTY of room for improvement.
Here in Austin, there doesn't seem to be a lot of other full-timers around my age and it's very frustrating as I long for connections with people that have similar experiences, regardless of their age...Where y'all at, huh?!!
Anywho, glad to finally be joining your RV forum. Hope to meet some of y'all soon!

Welcome!
You do realize that part of the initiation is:
1. Upgrading into several motorhomes until you finally find the one you wanted in the first place.
2. Having at least one smelly dump tank incident, (an embarrassing one is even better).
3. Dealing with warranty repairs for a new motorhome.
4. Having to purchase a complete new set of tires for your motorhome, (and perhaps the $10,000 bodywork damage caused by a blowout).
5. Damaging your shiny brand new motorhome, and then having to fix it.
6. Performing your own oil change, at least once! On a gasser it's a pain, on a DP it's a multi-gallon pain!
See, so while you have officially joined. You are perhaps still a "pledge".

I can only check off 2 of these from your list, I guess that means I should feel fortunate to not have gone through the full initiation I'll settle for being a "pledge"

If all goes according to plan, I'll trade in Miss Winnie (Minnie Winnie) for a Trend. So there's number 1 on your list.
#2 -- lost the gasket for the sewer hose. Did you know they don't quite seal without it??
#3 --- Miss Winnie needed a wall fixed when the duct tape gave way. Was fun to wait for the "cherry" duct tape to arrive.
And, I'd really rather pass on the others. Even if that means I stay a newbie!
