I would also look carefully at the length of the motorhomes you are looking at. With your tent camping background, there may be some national parks that are high on your list to visit and some have length limits. If you have parks that are on your "must visit" list, check the campgrounds online to see if there are length limits and consider that when buying.

Yes, there are a few places the length will be a problem, but many posters on this forum are over 40' and many of them dry camp and have expressed interests similar to mine. The model I am looking at is just under 37'. We want the space since at some point in the future we may either snowbird or even try full-timing. So I am willing to give up access to some national / state park sites to have adequate space. We looked at some smaller units but they felt too cramped. It is a bit funny though since much of our tent camping time was spent using a 3 person backpacking tent (LOL). Thanks for raising that issue though.
