New member/New MH/New Life.

Greetings and salutations!

Thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself, the name is Rob and I'm the proud owner of a 25', 2011 Monaco Montclair MH. I currently reside in the beautiful sunshine state, Tampa Florida. 52 /y/o and single. Single by choice but hoping to meet that special partner that may share the same thoughts and goals as I.

Four weeks ago I picked up a barely used Montclair. It had 5950 miles when I purchased it. Picture shown is the day I picked it up at the dealer.

Right now it is my daily driver and yes it is a bit costly on gas but I sure do like having some creature comforts while at work. Sure is nice to have a quick snack on breaks and a power nap on lunch. Thankfully I only drive 11 miles R/T to work.

I've not had a chance to take it out on a trip yet but am planning a short get-a-way in mid October. Was thinking I might try the state park at Sebastian Inlet on the east coast of Florida.

My long term goal is to the rent/sell the sticks and bricks and become a FT'er. Being a single guy and living a modest/simple life, I believe this size unit is ideal for my plans.

I'm having one issue with it at the moment, I cannot get in or out of my driveway without bottoming out. I've destroyed my blackwater valve already. Not a huge deal at the moment as I have no need to use the bathroom but I will have to replace it before I take it out in October. Anyone else having this problem?

So that's my story. Thoughts, comments and suggestions gladly accepted. Oh, and thanks for a great site. I've learned and will continue to learn much from it.

Rob and his Little Grass Shack.

Hi Rob, welcome to the forum. As dlovitt suggests, post a picture or two of your problem area and maybe we can offer suggestions on fixing it.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll see about getting some pictures posted tomorrow. Should I start a new thread for it or post them here? Also, what type of shots would be most beneficial?
Many thanks,
Rob

Rob, just post digitals of your driveway, slope, etc. Post here so we can follow your problem. Could you back in vs. forward? Just an idea without datails. I see you are already enjoying your unit.

A fun way to camp when in a time constraint is to go to a local RV park and camp overnight....5 miles from your home or 1,500 miles won't make much difference. You get to check out the rig and meet folks from many parts of the country....they will laugh when you say you live 5 miles away from the park. It works however. Good luck.

Me too!

I'm glad to see other singles are out there and planning a simple life of travel. I'm just in the planning stages, but the goal is to hit the road by April 2013. A dream without a plan is just a dream, and I have a well laid out plan!

When we started out with our first MH (a Montclair, there's coincidence) we took it for weekends to a state park campground less than 10 miles from home. We'd actually run home in the toad for items we realized we'd need on the road. Which model did you get? We had the 29 foot 3 slide model. Generally liked it, but when we decided to go full time there just wasn't enough basement storage space for us. Regarding your damaged dump valves, I always thought they hung down kind of low. If you have to rebuild them you might try to get them higher off the ground.
