Hello,
My wife and I are new to the forum and new to RVing. Never drove one or even rented one but just knew it was the right time and decision. We're looking forward to many enjoyable experiences ahead.
As we own a Jeep Wrangler but not a tow vehicle and we like our space, we purchased a 2002 Fleetwood Southwind 35R today. Yup, just dove right in! Workhorse chassis with the 8100 engine. It has 15k miles, checked out nicely and is getting all the needed work done and flat tow kit installed before coming home.
I'll be researching all the basics and would happily heed great advice and share our experiences. We won't be doing any long trips for a while as work dominates my time likely for quite a few more years but hope to sneak out for the occasional weekend or short vacation.
Hoping a trip post is in our near future!
So where should we go for a 3 day trip this time of the year? [emoji4]

Welcome!
We're from the South Bay, so we don't take a lot of short trips north (although we do meander up the coast from time to time). One of our "go to" locations, especially in the late fall and spring is Pismo beach. During the summer and early fall the sites are often reserved (although there are typically spaces at some of the private RV parks which are a bit pricer than the dry camping at Pismo State "North beach" campground)but the weather during the day is usually never terribly cold. And our dogs love walking on the big, wide beach.
One thing to note is that there are two rest stops along the 5 that have dump stations: One just north of Willows, and the other is just south of where the 580 hits the 5. There might be others, those come to mind, though.

Thanks for the info. Rest stops with dump sites, added to the list of things to know. Lol. I know your area well as I used to live in San Jose.

Welcome to the irv2 gang! We're glad you decided to get involved in this community. I guess all of us "jumped right in" at some point, whether it was tent camping or a big motorhome. The important thing is that you made a start. If you need to ask questions or research a topic, folks here are really helpful. Everyone enjoys sharing and getting connected. Enjoy!

Congrats on new to you motorhome. Born and raised in Hayward. Now a Virginian. Still miss the Sierra Nevada mountains. Enjoy your travels.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new purchase!
There are all sorts of places you can go but I would suggest someplace fairly close your first few times out.
One of those places might be the Manchester Beach/Mendocino KOA. You can have full hookups while you get used to the rig. Another place north of there is Pomo campground near Ft Bragg.
You can head south towards Santa Cruz for a few other spots also.
Pacifica has a high dollar parking lot for a campground but it is right on the ocean.
I willadd to this later, but you may also tell us how far you want to drive and what type of environment you enjoy.
Again...congrats to you!
