New Member thinking of upgrading.
Hi all,
Just joined up here as the wife and I are thinking of possibly upgrading to an RV/travel trailer. We have been tent camping the last 10 or so years on and off together in Colorado and around the West, lately about 10-20 weekends a year when it's warm enough, plus a weeks vacation wherever.
Anyways, here's my predicament. We have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. This is a key to our trips as we do like wandering off the beaten path a bit. But 3500 lb tow capacity isn't great.
In a Travel trailer I don't want a popup, A-frame, or hybrid. I had a popup for a very short while and no thanks, and want something I am not worried about putting away wet. A-frame is just not for me either.
Our needs are:
bathroom (ok her need) shower/toilet
kitchennette/fridge
sleeps 2 min (4 would be better)
Ac/heat (plan on some off-season a bit)
hard body
LIGHT!
Something we can use for very primitive camping ok.
Now I've seen plenty of little travel trailers... R-Pod, Spree, Scamps, etc which friends with Jeeps have towed around... any thoughts on ones liked and disliked?
Or option B...
which is a Class C and tow the 4700 lb Jeep...
Not looking to go over $10k, so whatever we find would be used, and I really am not looking to add another full on vehicle (and engine maint) to our collection, but if it is that much better of an idea, then maybe.
Just trying to get as many idea's, worries, etc out of the way. Won't be buying this season, late fall at the earliest, but looking and checking things out now.
Also, for camping in winter, I have a little portable contained toilet. Is it really just draining out the systems, adding a little RV antifreeze, and just not using the water tanks at all, but having the heater/kitchen (minus sink) and such available? Or am I just dreaming? (definitely tired of the tent heater/0degF sleeping bag method)
