Hello all, I have wandered here many times but not registered. I own a 08 Tiffin Allegro Bus and there is not much on it that I have not repaired. I have about 12K (7500 Miles).

You probably mean Motorhome Owner/Mechanic.

What major problems have you had with your Tiffin?

Depends on how you define major of course. The most major was the cracking on the entire roof. It was as though the roof panel had no fiberglass in it - and it was only gel coat. Tiffin took the bus back and removed the roof panel. Next time you are up on your coach think about how much work that would be!! The Fridge was a problem - it only lasted a year but no one would warranty it and no one would fix it in the coach. I ate that one. Inverter died. The worst for me was the failed cylinder in the slide - oil everywhere. Tons of little things.
In anycase like I've said before, I love the coach and Tiffin is not really to blame for the failure of parts.

Our dealership was a
tiffin dealer. I agree with you they make a good product. I am in agreement with you that the suppliers are the problem. Very few of our writeups were on the coach construction.(except a few the water leaks) Most were on the components that Tiffin bought from suppliers. Some day Japan will start to make motorhome parts and we will see some improvements.

Being as many of us here are in fact motor home owners.. I very much suspect we all got a chuckle out of your subject line.

For though you may not be a Mechanic when you sign the contract, or even when you accept delivery and sign that form.

YOU WILL BE, and soon (As you found out)

There is still a lot I've not had to fix on my Damon ... YET.. but to be honest, the list is shrinking all the time.

Have done both repairs and new install on electrical, Repairs on plumbing and electroincs, Repairs on woodwork, body work and other work, Have even changed a tire but thankfully.. that was not on MY rig (Just another Workhorse chassis) have cleaned ABS, Done lubrication and other gen-maintenance, Battery maintenance and I can't tell you what all else, Fixed locks (Got to do a spare part repair on one when I get what I need to fix it) and more. Fixed slides (the main slide shears bolts like toothpicks) Hopefully the last change may be my last for a while.. Someone gave me a hint and I took it (Use longer bolt)

I have even shortened my main awning 4.5 feet thanks to a combination of bad design to start with and damage.. I like it much better now.
