Hi Folks, we are from North Carolina, We are going to Be's full time want to Be's we hope.
All that said and done we are busy trying to get our home ready to sell an
discard 35+years of collecting we all do as homeowners.
We are currently shopping for a Diesel pusher with a 6 series Allison in the 325-350 hp range and maybe would settle for a 300hp if the coach was right for us. Yes I know it its the torque that counts and all I may tow is a 2004 Honda Accord using a tow dolly which i plan to buy new.

So far we have kissed a lot of "frogs" that were advertised as "clean well maintained, no damage, zero leaks, no pets, non smoking, and all the other important things like no mold, mildew damaged gasket slides, you name it" when we got there after asking the above questions to find sadly abused units with these things wrong or more. Most have been dealers we have traveled too but a couple have been private owners. So far we have traveled over a 1000 miles in 2 states looking and we fully expect to find some things worn and some things needing service in a used motor home as nothing is ever just perfect.

I can say I am just about done with dealers, as we have met some real "jewels" salespeople of the trade that harms the RV Industry as a whole.
I have swam with sharks and felt more comfort in the water than on the RV tarmac looking at units.
I understand not all salespeople are this way and that Good Dealers are out there, but we have not found them as of yet. We did met 2 honest salespeople in our endeavors so far and I would deal with them if they had the product I want and they know this and have our number to call.

I know the "never so perfect deal" is out there for us and will come from a private seller.
I guess this rant of our quest to find a Rv and if for the other "New" guys out there shopping, don't give up you will find your dream unit just some days you have to kiss the frogs. Our first adventure in looking was a 2005 Tiffin 40' with a Cat eng. with all the bells and whistles no body damage, looked clean NICE everywhere in fact but once we started looking mice were all over, as one even ran across my wifes feet. The Ice maker tubing had been chewed up already and other small chewing visible under and in the belly of the coach. It would had been the "near perfect coach" for us and met all of our needs. The selling couple did not hide the infestation problem and were a Nice older folks and honest about everything and the history of the home ONCE we got there but never said anything on the phone before hand.
We would had bought that Tiffin in a Flash if it had not been for the mice.

We are still looking. Don't give up folks, Listen to owners of RVs as they are a great resource and good luck hunting.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you have already had an interesting time of it. It is a hard path to travel sometimes but you will find it. What's the expression about kissing a few toads before you find your prince or rig as it would be.

Have you tried PPL Motorhomes out of Texas. Consignment place and they have a lot. Check out their website and maybe it will narrow down your search a bit. I found they were completely honest about what they had.

Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum!

I sympathize with "kissing the frogs". I drove 1100 miles (ONE WAY!!) to look at something that was described as "very good", to find a rusted out old bus.

Gems ARE there though. One has to be persistent, and sometimes a little bit lucky. I was also looking for torque (350HP minimum), and I'm happy with what I found (350HP/1350ft torque @ 1200RPM).

Good luck to you.

We are hoping to look at a 2004 Newmar Dutch Star 4010 this week
when the owner returns. It is a local coach. Pics appear clean. I hope it looks good in real life miles are good and appears well kept.

I think we may head to Perry Ga and kick the.. dealers,... tires pun intended. and see what pops up.
