New member wannabe

Going to look (dream) at RV's today. Been wanting one for a very long time. Thinking of renting a class C for weekend trip to convince hubby how fun it can be. We are in our late forties and have only 1 daughter left at home. She is 17 and starting her last year of high school, so we'll be empty nesters soon enough. I dream of the days of hubby and I hitting the open road in search of golf courses while checking off major league ballparks from our bucket list. Maybe even taking our grandson along when he gets older. One can dream!! Till then, I keep looking, keep planning and love reading about other's adventures.

Welcome to the forum. We dreamed first too, and then the dreams came true. Good luck -- you'll be on the road before you know it!!

Hey you sound like us a few years back! We got lucky and found a great deal on our MH and are now out and about in it. Mostly for dh work, but hopefully soon to check off the baseball parks too!

Cool keep dreaming

Keep dreaming!

I didn't think an RV was possible for us because there is NO WAY we could afford a new one. But hubby kept looking and found an Airstream and a Rexhall, both run, each needed maintenance but have good engines and transmissions, and so I now have to decide if I am going to sell my Airstream since clearly the Rexhall fits our particular quirks better. But the Airstream is so much nicer to drive!

So on hardly any money I went from dreaming to owning two!

Oh, and hubby spent around $6,000.00 on each one. Granted, he is having to do maintenance that had been long neglected and fix minor leaks, and the Rexhall has no beds nor even a full kitchen, but he has most of the components sitting around from an old trailer he pulled apart-- another of his projects, he bought an old trailer that was really not worth much, tore it apart for parts, and then used the chassis to build a flat trailer. I don't know yet if the stuff in storage is worth reusing, but it is there for when I'm ready. Again, all on a shoestring-- lots of labor though! The cool part is that with ebay and the internet he shops for every component he needs and waits on each repair until he gets the parts at a price we can afford. So while it takes $$, it can take a lot less if you do all yourself and shop the internet (surfing for parts is sort of a hobby with my hubby!) for quality at a good price.

Keep dreaming and don't be afraid to jump when an opportunity presents itself.

I can hardly wait until we hit the highway for our first long trip. Hubby's mom needs a visit and she is over 1,000 miles away. I ought to be comfortable driving such a large rig by the time we get there! By the time we leave hubby will intimately know all the functioning portions of this RV and have parts and tools in the bay waiting to be needed.

Welcome fellow dreamer. Still trying to convince DW that it's a good idea.

What I've been dreaming about is the 2009 Winnebago Outlook 30D with its unique floor plan. We just love love love the layout. I hope we can find one in good shape when the time comes. Or better yet, maybe Winnebago or some one else will come it with a similar plan.
