New Motorhomer :)

Howdy from North Carolina. Just checking out your forums and classifieds for some deals on rv stuff and maybe a good used motorhome. Started out in a pup tent about 40 yrs ago, to just selling our 29' travel trailer, so now we are looking into a really good MH. I'll check other forums for MH ideas/best/worst makes and models, ect....

Welcome and good luck in your search. Lots of great MH's and deals available out there. Start with a good floor plan that suits your needs.

Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search.

Lots of information about selecting the correct MH but in my opinion there are a couple things to really check out.

The first is the length of MH that will suit your needs. The larger MH may not fit into some all of the places you would like to go (some National Park campgrounds limit lenght). If you do not have any specific needs or can work around them get the one that suits you best. Longer length means larger and better accessories (stackable washer dryer vs combo).

The big consideration is Floor Plan. Visit some RV shows or dealers. Ditch the salesman and sit in a unit and imagine you had to spend several days with inclement weather. Is there room to lay out your hobbies, watch different TV without interferring with each other, is there room to prepare and cook dinner, can you have a few guests in for an evening, can you have family stay with you?

After you select the floor plan that works best for you you can then either order a coach or find one that most closely fits your needs. None will likely fit them all but some will come close.

New is expensive, used will be through the big depreciation. All of them will have issues of some sort or other. They are complex with many systems that are integrated.

IMO it is better to purchase a model that is up the series. It will have real wood, slightly better or larger accessories, etc. Pressed wood will perform well and last for a reasonable time but will be more problematic and require maintenance.

Good luck with your research and acquistion.

One last bit of advice. Every day you wait to select and purchase a RV is a day less you will get to use it.

Welcome from another searcher - a few of us lurking among the rv owners. For me, a very difficult year of research before the search.

"Every day you wait to select and purchase a RV is a day less you will get to use it." There are also a lot of RVs out there that are sitting and not being driven much.

My advice…buyers remorse is pretty common, expensive mistakes are not uncommon, as well has buying several times to get it right...its a pretty complex vehicle, often expensive out of pocket, and expensive to repair, maintain, and make upgrades to.

Take your time, you can always rent. You can also take a vacation overseas or rent lodging someplace. Don't buy in a rush, don't let others tell you what you need, and low information purchases are high risk purchases, whether new or used.

On the other hand, your bucks are yours, so enjoy your successes and mistakes.

As a researcher searching for an RV and commenting much, do you see an RV in your future? And what choice might you make?
