Who made the engine for the FRED? I really would like ford to offer a diesel in the F53.

Getting there is half the fun - take your time and enjoy the scenery.

It's a Cummins on a Freightliner chassis. Several different dealers told me that the high cost of manufacturing was the reason the FRED was discontinued.

I'm not sure I understand that. Why not just add a Powerstroke to the existing chassis as an option like Ford does with their trucks?

Having said that I have a 2005 Powerstroke that I bought new and it's been through three turbos in 65,000 miles...careful what you wish for.

I saw that rig just 8 days ago. Congrats on your purchase and inclusion in the small and wonderful FRED Outlaw owners family.

I owned a 2010 3808 Fred for four years and put 60,000 miles on him. You're going to love your new Outlaw. If I can be of any help let me know!
