new rver, question about city water hookup

Hello,

New RVer here and have a question regarding the city water hookup. I ran a hose from the faucet to the city water hookup on the trailer. It keeps leaking at the faucet and it seems like there is too much pressure on the line. It keeps leaking at the faucet, is there any reason for this?

I think you just need a good pressure regulator

This is what I use
Valterra A01-1117VP Brass Lead-Free Adjustable Water Regulator

Depends on the leak. Is it from the hose washer? Or above? I use a high pressure hose that has proven drip free at 90 lbs pressure. (My pressure reducer is mounted in the wet bay.)

Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

Be sure you have a good pressure regulator! Replace the rubber hose washers regularly. That should take care of the problem!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Make sure the washer at the hose/rv hook up is still good. Pressure regulator might be in order too. I started putting my regulator at the faucet ahead of the hose after seeing a gentleman hook to the campground faucet and put the regulator on the RV. The pressure blew out his water hose. We were sitting in Lake City Colorado and the city water tank was sitting about 500 ft above us on a cliff above town.....

I have just the regular white water hose. One of the campgrounds we've gone to for YEARS has 120 psi and I've never had a pressure regulator on the hose bib, just at the inlet to the MH. Never did have a hose blow or even leak on me, still have the hose for a spare now.

we never had a hose blow out but when the pressure is over about 40psi I have to watch out for leaks at the toilet and sink connections in my lav.

Surely the City of Lake City doesn't allow all the pressure from that tower into the system? Has to be a whole-system pressure regulator somewhere, 'cause 500ft of elevation = 216psi.

Probably do now! That was several years ago. I'm sure there probably was some kind of reducer in the city line, but after I saw that I started putting my press. reg. on the faucet........
