We are new to RVing and we've recently ordered our first RV. We ordered a new class C MH and are looking forward to its delivery. No doubt we have a lot to learn and hope that the learning is mostly fun (as opposed to costly and/or painful).
We're planning short trips initially - weekend adventures with the dog and cat.
I have been reading a number of posts on this site and still seem to be missing some basics regarding satellite TV arrangements. Can someone point me in the right direction regarding buying (inexpensively) a portable dish for DirecTV. We have both SD and HD-DRVs at home and plan to start off with SD. It seems to me that I should be able to find something used as I suspect others are upgrading to an HD arrangement. Suggestions on where to start?
Thanks all. We are looking forward to learning and sharing with the community here...
All the best,
Konnie and Bruce.

It all fun, even when it's costly and painful, or none of us would do it. Good Luck and always keep your sense of humor...

Welcome & congrats on the new class C. Can't help you with the dish for Direct TV, but I can tell you, if you just use one of your receivers from the stick house you will get all the same channels that you currently subscribe to with the exception of the local channels. The local channels depend on a certian range or distance from your home. I have been 170 miles away from home & was able to receive the local channels from my home area, not the area I was currently in. I have been 400+ miles away & we have to rely on the antenna. The antenna is usually good now with digital signals being broadcast. I have not been in an area inbetween the above mentioned distances.

We did buy it from a dealer - Avalon. Bought it right after the show at the I-X center. So far the experience has been first rate - our sales guy was really helpful and trustworthy. I hope the delivery goes well...

Welcome Konnie and Bruce,
Check with Direct. When I signed on with them with them they gave me a portable dish. I never did use it so I gave it away. Direct programing got to high for us and I've since switched over to Dish. Congratulations on your new coach and a big welcome to the forum.

Camping World has plain jane portables as well as high end dishs. Recommend using a wineguard brand dish.
