Well, my wife (Brenda) and I are starting to gather info on Class A's.
I figured this was a good place to start. We know we are going to buy
one, but we want sure it is a solid one, considering what they cost.

Can wait until we are on the road seeing new places and meeting new
friends.

Welcome to Irv2 ,
Floor plan is everything ,size of shower ,bed ,storage etc. look for something you can live in . See lots of units ,ask questions . The members here have or have had anything out there.

support system. We hear that allegro and winnies are solid. Are there
others?

We are also thinking of going with a 32 - 34 footer?

Welcome, the best advise is to look around don't get in a hurry if you plan to buy in the summer I would start looking now. You would be surprised how many people buy without a really good test drive then they post their problems.

we like our forest river,great dealer and,very few initial problems all taken care of even after warranty was over. that being said i believe that those that few problems love thier coaches those that have problems hate thier brand all brands have problems thats the ones you hear about,no body (very few) come to a forum just to say how great their unit is unless somebody asks, BUT have a gripe and it comes out, if i were shopping i know the one thing i would not worry about is the very very best price, a good price with great service will win me out over every time good luck and happy travels

I looked at a hundred plus Class A’s before buying mine last April. 9 months of following the online ads and going to dealerships. Even went to out of state dealers and owners to see more. I was totally convinced I was getting a diesel pusher. My main criteria on the top of my list #1.almost new condition, #2. a mid coach door. Personal reasons but this was a deal killer in most DP.

Long story short I had not even consider a National Dolphin until a dealer insisted I look a one on his lot. The quality was there. I did not buy his, but bought mine from an individual. I am very please with my Dolphin. Close to perfect condition no dings or binges. And it drives beautifully.

Price dictates what most of us buy. I bought almost $30,000 less than what I was going to do and love it.

Enjoy yourselves while you are looking. It should be fun spending this much $$$.
I bought a used Allegro with lots of dings and dents to learn how to drive and maintain a motorhome. I figured I'd just be adding to the previous owner's mistakes. I ended up liking it so much that I kept it and have no intension of selling soon - the Allegro has proven to be a well constructed unit.
I don't know if you plan to buy new or used, but if used look for one that has been taken care of. I found www.nadaguides.com/RVs a good place to get prices to compare. In a down market like this I don't think you should pay more then NADA's list price. Dealers will tell you different, but most private owner/sellers will use this as their reference.

You can do a search and find out what kind of discount others have gotten when they purchased their coaches and which dealers will work with you.

Are you new to RVing? Do you plan on full-timing? You might consider renting a couple of different units to see if the size will fit your needs. Even a week of living in an RV gives you a whole new prespective on floorplan & space issues.
Give LOTS of thought to your top 1-3 "deal breaker" items & never let them go. Used is a very good way to go. "Orphans" are not evil.

Floorplan is everything!
