New to IRV2 but long time camper
I am logged in as boatsailor, meaning Submarine Sailor. I served a long time ago on a diesel electric boat, just one hitch. I have been retired from the City of Los Angeles for 24 years and my DW from LAUSD for 21 years, we have been to all 49 continental states in our first RV and now we're starting a new map of states visited. We had visited all the National Parks as of 2014. I do most of my own maintenance and repairs of the house systems but leave the chassis repair to the pros.
We have two daughters, the oldest is a well know Marine Biologist but her title is Environmental Scientist. The youngest is a elementary school teacher. Two great(fantastic) grandkids, DGD has just married, working and going to college and living on the Oregon Coast, DGS is an Eagle Scout still at home and starts college next month.
As it turns out our favorite campgrounds are mostly beach, but some desert. Our favorite here in So. Cal. has some hook ups but the best do not have any. In OR we really like Douglas County Parks and stay At Winchester Bay as often as possible. Our favorite Desert is Hi Jolly a BLM campground just north of Quartzsite.
We do some rock hounding and beach combing, both of us have bad backs so all our real hiking days are behind us. We do like to get out and about but a little slower. The DW is an active quilter and spoiler of grandkids. I am a sawdust maker and have several major furniture projects finished and in various family and friends homes. My current project is a box that will hold a bottle of Single Malt Scotch for the Last Man Standing from my Boat. We, the crew members, don't drink that much anymore and the box will not have any visible seams nor will there be any way to open it and it will be on display at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York Harbor.
So that's about all there is, we're fat and sassy empty nesters with itchy feet.
