New to RV but not to Life

Hi Wetfoot here and looking forward to learning and meeting as many of you as I can. My first question I guess is any ideas on which way is the best to go gas or diesel? Before anyone starts with the good advise I'm on a very limited income so I will be doing most of the work myself so good used parts are a must lol. I have about a year to get ready before I turn over my home to my youngest and hopefully hit the road in my new van. (Used van)

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Lots to consider. I would suggest you spend some time poking around the forums, asking specific questions. Better get busy, you've got a lot of tire kicking to do!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Welcome to the forum. I do most of the maintenance and repair on my towing vehicle (TV). I considered some diesel TVs before deciding to go with a gasser. I don't know as much about repairing diesels as I do gasoline engines. Also, the cost of repairing diesel is much more than gas engines. Just my perspective. Lots of owners of TVs and MHs are very satisfied with their diesels.

Are you considering a travel trailer (TT), fifth wheel trailer, or a motor home? There are advantages and disadvantages to each. I decided on a TT because of (1) the lower cost of purchasing, (2) I could use the TV as a daily driver, and (3) I can park the TT and use the TV to get supplies and tour the local area. So, for me, it was a combination of economics and convenience.

However, in the past, I've traveled with family members in their motor homes and really enjoyed the experience.

Please keep us informed as you transition to the RV lifestyle.
