New to RVing

Hey this is Doc from SoCal.

Interested in getting into RVing with the wife. 5 or so years back we bought an Electra Glide thinking we could travel on it but the heat out on the road gets to the wife and now it's starting to get to me.

Toying with the idea of selling the bike and getting a 5th wheel or smaller motor home. But I'm leaning towards the 5th wheel as of now.

I'm starting from new (no truck or anything). Towed a 20' boat a number of years ago plus when I was younger I drove bobtail trucks so I'm not intimated by driving or towing a large vehicle.

So I'll be reading and asking questions, and reading some more....

thanks-

d

A lot of decisions to be made about what type of RV you would like. We have been RVs for 30 years. Have had everything from tent to 35 foot 5th wheel (owned 3) and currently thinking about going to smaller class C motorhome. We attended a lot of RV shows and looked at a lot of different RVs before we decided on any thing. With a 5th wheel you must have a truck also. With a motorhome you need to tow a vehicle to use when you get setup. You can also rent a motorhome to see how you like those. Not sure you can rent a truck and 5th wheel. You will get a lot of advise from this site. Good luck.

Hi Doc, welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have some big decisions to make. Many things will affect these decisions, such as will you be full-timing, age and health, amount you want to spend initially, etc. We like the 5th wheel, others like the motorhomes better, so you will get all kinds of answers to your questions. I would just advise you to get all the facts and give it a LOT of thought before making the investment. A mistake could be awfully expensive! Good luck

If you get a toy hauler you can take the cycle with you but you will loose some living space.

I thought of a toy hauler, it's one of the options...
