My husband and I bought a gently used 92 Winnebago Brave last year. We used it without much trouble at the end of laast summer. However getting it our of storage this year, he noticed two of the roof vents cracked. Actually the one in the bathroom disintergrated. Does anyone have tips on how to replace the entire vent?

They are not hard to install. You can buy the entire vent at a RV store, just make sure they are properly sealed, other than that not much to it. PS - Welcome to the forum.

You will have to get on the roof and scrape, pull, tug the old sealant and you will find several screws/bolts/nuts holding the vent to the roof. undo all of these and off it should come. Do the same for the inside frame. Clean all the old sealant so you have a nice surface for the new one. Then reverse the process.

You should be able to find complete replacements at Camping World or the RV stores. You may also want to look into Air Maxx covers which allow you to have the vents open while driving and during rain. It will also prevent the new ones from cracking from UV damage.

Hi NIEZNAYB and Welcome to the Forum!

Are you sure you need to replace the entire vent and not just the cover (domed part)? It is pretty easy to replace just the cover, but you do have to know what brand as the hinge designs are different.

If you do need to replace the entire vent, it is more labor intensive, as others have noted, but otherwise pretty straightforward.

My hubby and son will be replacing roof vents today. Yea we definately have to replace the bathroom vent. The hinge is messed up and the crank appears to be stripped. Ironically, the Highway magazine arrived in the mail yesterday and it has an article on replacing vents. The visual sure was a help. We will be checking our the Air Maxx cover for the bathroom vent. You all are awesome. So glad I found this site!
