New to the site

My wife (Becky) and I(Randy) from central Illinois are new to the site even though I registered in 2014. We have purchased our second motorhome. (first 1993 Fleetwood Southwind, current is 2004 Fleetwood Providence) We are going on a six to seven week trip next week to Nova Scotia and down the east coast to Maryland then back to Illinois. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Glad to have you here in the forum with us. You're gonna like it here.

You'll get lots of opinions on where to travel to. I love any of the "down east" villages in Maine. Bar Harbor, Booth Bay and Kennebunkport. The White mountains of NH are beautiful and there's lots to do there. Lake George and Ticonderoga in NY are fun.
If you've never done it before visit Cape May NJ and take the Ferry to Lewes DE. It's a great way to travel. (Done it many times). Hopefully it's the coast of MD you're heading to.

Let us know if we an help you.

Happy Trails!!!

We've been to Nova Scotia a couple of times. I am assuming you are heading through New Brunswick to get there. If so, the border crossing from Calais, ME to St. Stephen, NB is new and easy to cross from the USA to Canada.

New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are separated by the Bay of Fundy which has some of the largest tide fluctuations in the world. Stop at Hopewell Rocks on the NB side to see the tide go in and out and while on the NS side, stop by The Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre on the Shubenacadie River on Highway 36. Before you go, find when high tide is and go and watch a tidal bore come in. I found this stuff fascinating!

Take a drive on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton in NS. Stop off at some turnouts where the scenery is to your suiting. We stopped frequently.

Although you said you only had six or seven weeks, perhaps you can go a bit further and hop on the North Sydney Ferry (yes, your Coach too) and head over to Newfoundland for a few days. Newfoundland can be 6-7 weeks all in itself if so inclined but my wife and I visited many spots in our 10 days there. It probably doesn't fit your time budget, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

PEI isn't far either. Cavendish Campground offers a nice beach and a beautiful view of the sea.

Have fun!
