New too.

Greetings fellow wanderers. Having given up backpacking 20 years ago and car camping when I had back surgery, I took up RV-ing last September and am happily enjoying my third life seeing the sights and natural Wonders of the USA.
We base out of Salt Lake City which puts us within a day hop of eight national parks, a couple dozen state parks, several national forests and BLM land with an available acreage larger than most New England states. The real motivator was the late arrival of our daughter. I figure I am only getting one pass so I am doing dad and grandad at the same time. Still working a full schedule and my second grader is busy with school and a number of other things, so it's great to be able to jump in the RV and take off, already loaded except gas and clothing. Needless to say we are having a blast. Our crew consists of my wife and me, our 7 year old daughter, our 10 year old long haired black cat, and our 4 year old Aussie Shepherd. We have met a lot of friendly people in our short time out.
I have been to quite a large number of campgrounds in the region, though not so many yet in the RV. I'll post info. on some of the campgrounds we know and look forward to learning from all of you. Happy Trails.

Welcome to RVing.

Don't suppose you do a bit of downhill in the winter. We make a point of spending a couple weeks each winter in SLC taking advantage of the worlds greatest snow!

Welcome! One of the things my adult daughter always reflects on are the camping experiences we had while she was growing up. Your 7 year old is at a perfect age to enjoy short trip experiences.

As a grandparents we take our now 10 year old granddaughter with us every chance we get. When I'm working away from home my wife and granddaughter will usually fly to where ever I am for a short visit and explore the area. I think my granddaughter has more frequent flyer miles than her mom and dad do combined! And as for camping, she is well versed in what is expected of her when we arrive at camp of break camp to go home. Its part of the experience!

Have fun with your "late arriving daughter".
