Newbie

Hi all,

New to the forum and new to the RV thing

A little about me:

Married - 3 kids. 2 almost done with college and one starting senior year of high school.

100% Service Connected Disabled Vet - I don't generally like to share this but feel it is important as an understanding gateway to my situation.

Living off of VA disability - which is very generous - Thank you all for allowing that support for those who were willing to give all for this great land! I really mean that.

My situation being what it is, I have very little to get started in this lifestyle. I am shopping for a MH - won't be purchasing until next June or so to save as much money as I can to get a decent low cost full timing rig. I will be asking the dumb and the annoying questions - so please bear with me over the next year 😀

The only debt we have is student loans and we rent the house we are in now.

Funds: About 40k in a 401k - that will be cashed out - no choice in the matter. I know the early withdrawal and penalties are going to severely hit that, but it's all I have to get started. I am never going to hit the lottery - so there it is!

Goals: Buy a lower cost RV for as close to cash as I can and winter in the south. We have wonderful family who MAY allow us to freebie on their land up north for summer months.

As my username suggests (and yes it is a little presumptuous of me a year before buying an RV) - I intend to write. Books, Articles, maybe a blog (though that seems overdone already), short stories and possibly some EBooks. It is the only thing I seem to have going for me by way of possibilities (and yes I am long winded enough as you can tell).

I HAVE read all the Diesel vs Gasser threads so I will skip that set of questions to all of you - Hooray right?

Anyway - thanks for listening/reading and I look forward to getting to know you (maybe someday meet up on the road - hopefully not with me hitchhiking because my RV is broken)

As we said in the Navy - Fair Winds and Following Sea's - Modified to "Tailwind both ways and no Breakdowns" LOL

Hi Jim

Glad to have you here with us in the forum.

You have come to a good place to get questions answered. Remember the only dumb question is the one not asked.
Good luck on your search.

Happy Trails!!!
