Newbie from Park Ridge, IL

Hello everyone! New owner, pre-retirement, just me, the DW and the dog. I am assuming DW means Darling Wife - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Long time pop-up campers, love the NPs and the SPs. We used our stuff so much it all fell apart, so we started doing the fly/motel style of vacation. Definitely missed camping. Now the happy owner of a 2006 40' DP. I had so much fun doing the research and working through the options. Plan to do this style of vacation until retirement (5 yrs), then either upgrade or go back to flying around.

I have done a lot of reading of iRV2. I have been extremely impressed with the level of knowledge of the writers. A couple of threads that were especially great were the Newmar owners waiting for their coaches to be built. Talk about grownups acting like teenagers. The enthusiasm jumped off the page. Also followed a thread of an owner rebuilding a TT. There are true experts in all fields getting involved and sharing their expertise. Great reading. I also like the level of activity. This forum is always rocking with new posts.

I don't post a lot, but plan on asking for help with toads, towing, storage, and anything else that comes up. Looking forward to the next 5 years. Our goal is to work up to a trip that would start from home (Park Ridge, IL) drive to Vancouver, down to San Diego and back home. Hope the diesel prices stay low.
