I am assuming RVTrader has been one of the tools you have been using. It gave us a good idea of what was out there before we actually ventured onto a dealer's lot. Just remember, negotiate the price, dance the dance and if you don't like the way it is going, walk. Salespeople hate to loose a "live one", sometimes you can use that to your advantage....and no, I don't always follow my own advise.

We are also debating the toad thing. Neither of us wants to get rid of our current vehicle and we don't want to add another to the insurance roll, so we are going to try rentals at or near our destination. We'll see.

Have fun!!

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I've looked at PPL, RV trader and a few more local places around Houston.
Now I hate to open up this again, But since I'm planning on getting a used RV,
and I'm basically a chevy man. What is the consensus on the chevy 8.1L. Should I or should I not.

You should as the chevy comes with a good Allison transmission.
More places to look.
