Newbie in Florida

Hi all. New member and new RVr here. Put a deposit yesterday on a 1996 Fleetwood Southwind 34', pick it up middle of next week after the dealer gets done correcting some minor issues and detailing.
Seems to be in good shape, but only time will tell for sure.
Long time boater here, so I'm hoping that some of my knowledge about boat systems will transfer to RV systems - though I still can't find the bilge pumps in the MH .

Welcome aboard! How old are the tires? They normally age out, not wear out.

Welcome! Knowledge with boats does help, X2 on the tire age issue. I thought I did good with inspecting before I purchased mine and thought the tires were in good shape with decent tread. I learned after buying it and then coming here that they were 15 years old and ended up replacing them.

Thanks all for the welcome.
My understanding is that the front tires are new-ish, not sure about the rears. They all have decent tread, but as stated above that doesn't necessarily mean they are 'good'.
I'm hoping to be able to get in touch with the previous owner and find out those kinds of things from her, and those other 'special' things that only an owner would know.

I would not rely on the PO for tire info. I made that mistake before I joined this forum. PO told me they were new. They looked new - but were 7 and 8years old. Check the dates on the tires yourself.

Get all service records. Hopefully dealer is changing all fluids before delivery.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check the dates on the tires.
Yes, all the regular maintenance fluids are being changed before we pick it up.
As it happens I got to check it out about two hours after it was dropped off as a trade, before the dealer had a chance to do anything with it. So I got to get a good look at the engine, fluids and fluid levels before anything was changed or filled. I always prefer that to pulling the dipstick and seeing brand new oil. That always brings a contradicting response of "oh good, they changed the oil, so I don't have to" and "crap, what are they hiding by changing the oil"

I'm in Jacksonville, and spend lots of time in St Augustine.
