Newbie RV'ers in Houston, TX
First post from newbie RV'ers from Houston, TX. We just bought our first travel trailer, a Sonic SN190VRB. Hubby and I are newly retired and ready for an adventure! Our co-pilots will be our German Shepherd (Blitz) and Standard Poodle (Piper). Any suggestions about introducing our pups to trailer life will be greatly appreciated. We will be picking up our TT next week and are planning for our maiden test voyage. Also need to select a guide to RV campgrounds - if anyone has any suggestions about which ones are best.
Hope we'll have some pics to post soon!

We had ours set up in the driveway and took the dog and cat inside and let them explore for awhile and then take them out. After a few times they were ready for an overnighter. But every animal is different. Our Lab puppy we got last year begs to go in the trailer and plops down on the floor like he owns it. Fortunately our pets have loved riding in the truck from day one.

An easy first trip would be Brazos Bend State Park. Not far from the Houston area and the spaces are pretty much level and most are very easy to get into. If you need any help they always have a couple of nice park hosts to offer advice. The dogs will love the trails. But keep them out of the water since they have gators.

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.
I don't travel with pets so I can't help you. But good luck with your new TT and have a good shake down trip.
Happy Trails!!!

Welcome to the site! We like going to Lake Livingston state park. Its close and very nice for a weekend getaway. Nice trails. Also need to be careful of alligators near water as stated in regulations. Have fun!

Welcome and enjoy the adventure. Traveling with pets can be easy and enjoyable. We have a small Havanese who loves the camper. He too thinks it is his. There is entire thread here on traveling with pets. Some good information there.
