Newbie To The Forum and To RVing

Hello Everyone,

I'm in my initial stages of researching a new motorhome, I have about three more years left in the military before I retire and I plan on doing some traveling and what better way than in a RV. I look forward to learning from the experts first hand.

Regards,
Tony

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm active duty US Army Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4), with over 22 years of service and counting. The military has been good to me, but I can see a glimpse of the finish line. My wife just retired last month (also a CW4) with 26 years of service and she's currently transitioning to life as a civilian. We both have an extensive history of traveling for the military in our field, but now we are starting to focus on traveling for fun.

Right now we researching the following rigs;
1. 2012-2013 Entegra Aspire
2. 2012-2013 Forest Rive Charleston
3. 2012-2013 Entegra Anthem (If I can convince the wife)

Purchase decision is at least a year away, but we want to start preparing now. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Tony

Thank you guys, I definitely appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to learning experience. The wife and I went and saw the Entegra Aspire yesterday and it's easy to get intimidated by its sheer size. I've been around many large military vehicles, they seem small now in comparison. No complaints though, we are ready for the adventure.

Dont get too intimidated by its size yet. There not to bad to handle and should not take long to get used to. It would not be a bad idea to take an RV driving course, there are quite a few driving schools that run these courses and should not be to hard to find one near you. As well you could go out and rent a smaller rig to do some touring, getting your confedence up before moving up to that big rig. On the Plus side chances are you wont have anyone trying to shoot you while your learning how to drive (unless your in LA). Again welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. This is my fave site for RV info. We started researching options about a year before we bought. My advice to you is research & talk about what makes you feel comfortable. Go visit different RV's to get a feel for what you want, then make a wish list. We decided that we wanted a Polar pkg,dual pane windows, bath all in one, 5er, (we had looked at 26' models & couldn't get what we wanted in a 5er that small so we upped the length to 35'+). We wanted a midship kitchen, rear living, awning slide covers, solar pkg, a fridge that was accessible even with the slides in (we have 3).We also got a screened in room (Patty O Room) I now live in 387sq ft & love it. We sold everything (moved out of a 4 level split home with attached garage that was filled with stuff) and bought this 5er & a dually chev long box 4 door deisel. I love the simple life style we have adopted with flair in the last year. We plan on going to the east coast of Canada this summer and I can hardly wait. Enjoy, cheerio.
