newbie to the forum world

We have been holidaying in units from a tent to a 32 ft 5th wheel that we are in now for over 30 years. Every year a little longer with this year being gone for 7 weeks straight. We tried to go south last winter but had health problems that have since straightened out. But with that short period we got thinking about a different unit and have been looking at used MHs. We found a nice 2011 Monaco Cayman 40 ft. After doing research and talking to people we trust we find that Monaco has lost its place and the roadmaster frame has been discontinued. It was suggested we look elsewhere with a freightliner frame. Going from a 5th to a MH seems like a big step. Any suggestions.

Welcome to iRV2

I went from a 5er to a class A , 5 years ago and couldn't be happier.
I'd say find a floor plan that works, and get on the road.
My truck and trailer measured 43' , coach and toad 58', took me about an hour to adapt to the longer rig.
Parking in a site and setting up takes less than 1/2 the time.
Main reason for the change was to get out of an RV with internal stairs, DW's knees are in trouble. Truck was high mileage and the coach cost less than a new truck, and with being in the RV 5+ months a year the 5er was getting to small too.

I agree with Skip. I made my change over four years ago and wouldn't ever go back. Never missed my 5er. Good luck with your choice. Happy hunting.

We are glad you joined us. I have owned nothing but a class A. 23 years ago a friend convinced me to start camping and traveling. He said I should start out where I would end up anyway. He was a smart guy. I have owned 5 Class A motor homes in the past 23 years. Enjoy the forums;

Don
