I've spent the last week reading endlessly through many of the forums and some of the great suggestions you all have put out there. I've compiled a ton of wish list items, checklists, and overall a bunch of enthusiasm towards this little camping adventure.
Friday I'll be picking up our first TT, a Sprinter 316BIK. We ran into a 'deal' at our local dealership (Forrest River not Keystone) where they bought 4 of these units from a dealership that was selling out. Therefore, we are buying a never used "used" trailer. We love the floor plan compared to the Wildwood 31BKIS that we compared to. Like the idea of the insulation package, the outdoor kitchen options and the sleeping arrangements for extra guests. I talked with Keystone customer service and from a VIN check we have about 1.5 months left on the factory transferable warranty.
I have some fresh doubts about the Keystone line from reading through the forums due to the parent company but a few questions if any of you have time:
1.) Is the Thor issue getting better, more so a 2000's problem or a disaster waiting to happen?
2.) With the newer options do the PDI checklists on here still apply or are there fresher ones for the newer elements? ie Outdoor kitchens, electric awning, electronics etc
3.) Anyone have any 'gotchas' to look out for during PDI or break in trip that are specific to the Keystone or Thor product lines? I'm pretty mechanical and will look through the PDI lists and insist upon the dealer taking time for a thorough inspection.
Thanks in advance!
