Smile Newbie with a 1991 Beaver Marquis

Hi there,

I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago and I'm glad I found you. I spend my lunch hour at work reading everything.

So I'm the proud new owner of a 1991 Beaver Marquis in absolutely prime condition. I separated from my husband of 30 years back in October and moved into our 5th wheel. And, I decided that I liked it! Then I made a decision to travel but didn't want to pull the fiver alone. That started the search for a motorcoach.

At first I had certain requirements, specifically it had to have at least 2 slides. Well, imagine my amazement when I saw my first older coach (a Safari Continental) and realized that hey, I don't really need slides. These things have tons of room!!

The search for coach was modified and eventually I found the Beav in Mt. Vernon, Washington. It's beautiful with lots of wood and leather. It's 40 feet long and 9 feet wide and my friends are amazed that I have the courage to drive it. And with the encouragement and help of my not-quite-ex husband (he's still my best friend), I brought it home and now it's a Canadian Beaver.

My plan is to live in it full time (I've already moved in) and hopefully spend the winter in Texas. Why Texas you ask? Well, why not? It's just another place to visit and cross off the bucket list. At 49 I may be too young for a bucket list but I don't care - I'm starting on it early while I'm still healthy enough.

So my navigator, Desdemona the Choc. Lab. and I will be hitting the road in mid-October for our big adventure. (Des is named for a Jimmy Buffett song, not Shakespeare... we're huge Parrotheads, if you know what that is.)

If there are any other parrotheads out there or other owners of older Beavs, please drop me a line!!

Cheers and see you on the road.

Hi Jan and welcome aboard. Those older Beavers are gorgeous - they were famous for the interior design and craftsmanship.
