Keep those cards and letters coming.

Last year if you joined "Friends of Georgia" for $60.00, you received two nights stay in a state park free and a parking pass good for a year.($5.00 per stay)plus other discounts. I believe the senior discount at Georgia State Parks is 20%.

P.S. look up "pyramiding" as it pertains to your black tank.

Howie49,

Welcome to the Forum, you came to the right place. How things work here is please notice the "search" option at the top right of this page. Enter a subject and then choose and start reading. Best way to learn.

To SEE how to dump your tanks, go to YouTube and enter "How to empty my RV tanks", "how to level my RV", or whatever you want to know. Lot's of good videos that will make you feel more comfortable.

One thing most of us forget is to ASK for help at the CG (campground). Notice someone watching, say: "I am new and could sure use some advice if you have the time." They will either say no time or come over and show you how to do it. Always find people willing to help at CG's. Best people are there.

That search option, look up a thread called "RV Fixes for Newbies & Oldies". Find it and read it. I started it so I could refer people to some of the best advice I received here. Please read the part about emptying your WH (water heater) when not camping. Really stinks when you do NOT do this.

Everyone has to learn. You will be surprised what you will know in a years time and what you will learn that seems so simple but is so important. We also learn by error. Keep reading threads about anything. It all helps and ask questions here.

What kind of rig do you have? It can help people to advise if they know this info.

Take care and have fun! Lynne

Just say's discounts do not apply in quotes but then there is that little catch phrase that says. Electric and sewer are xtra as well as certain fees. So does that mean you are right back to where you started from for the most part or are there actually discounts if you join the NPS?...Speak to you soon..
Check out the National Park Service "America the Beautiful" lifetime senior pass. My wife and I bought ours a couple of years ago, when the prices was $10. Last August the price went up to $80, but it doesn't take long to recover that cost. Free admission to all National Parks, Nat'l Monuments, COE, BLM, US Forest Service lands, etc. That covers the entrance fee for you and guests, up to 4 adults in a vehicle. We've used ours for entrance at a couple of nice places so far. The pass gets you a 50% discount on additional services, including camping and RV spots. We plan to use that soon with our Canyon Star. I've included a link with info here. You can purchase online for a transaction fee, or purchase in person at any of the locations that sell it. Hope this helps!
Scroll down to the "Senior Pass" option:

Check lists fir set up/ break down are worth the tine and effort.
If you are in state parks and use antenna for TV its a good idea to have a clip...on the antenba handle when down...move to steering wheel or shift lever when raising.
Avoids a basic but common problem.
Lots of others here and always helpful golks

Agree on checklists. There are some good apps for creating checklist including Google Keep which allows you to check things off and re-set.

Keep in mind that a "surge" protector is NOT a voltage regulator.

Also, you have never said what RV you have. If you bought less than new, you need to check the date codes on your tires. Anything older than 5-7 years could have tires that at a minimum need professional inspection. RV tires age out, they rarely wear out.

newbie

We have a 2018 171RBXL Wildwood. Just purchased it in December and have it in our yard at our house. Doing everything we need ( we hop) to have it ready for it's first venture camping when weather permits.

That is the perfect size for camping in state parks which are normally the cheapest.

Having it beside the house not only allows tinkering but avoids those nasty and sometimes expensive storage fees.

You tube is a great source for experience in areas that you may need help or at least a little refresher.

Seek out RVGEEKS for wonderful information on youtube. They have a DP but a lot of their information will help you.

Good luck and enjoy.
