J Michael & Maggie here.....from the Orange Beach Alabama area...and we are in the process of purchasing our first MH !!! I do have a few ?? and hope I am posting in the right area.....We are going to go back and look at at what may become our starter MH tomorrow.....just wanted to see if I could get anyones input as to what they think of the MH we are looking at...It is a 1997 Winnebago DL 31 RQ.....58K mileage....visually appears to have been well taken care of....and all service records are there.....I do expect to have to do some repairs....seems like it comes with the territory...but is buying a MH that is 14 yrs old a very sound idea ???

Your input would be very much appreciated...

Thanks and glad we found all you guys....this is the Holy Grail of RV Info !!!

WELCOME to iRV2, sounds like a good deal. Age isn't always a problem if you think the coach was taken care of. I feel most or all the bugs were taken care of.

......Welcome to this great site, Michael & Maggie. I saw another post from another member just the other day from your area. Give them a shout, his ID is......... Dadeaux. He did another person the favor of looking at a m/home close to him that was quite a distance away for the buyer, I believe all worked out good.
I remember he was in the Orange Beach area. Hope it works out for you. As for buying a used m/home, I would do it all over again, no regrets. Good luck,
David G.

Welcome here. You will glean a lot of info from this site. I am up the road from you in Fort Walton Beach Fl. At the moment we are at Jolly Roger campground in Marathon Key. We take our boat to your area on a nice 3 hour ride several times a year. Good luck on your purchase.

Welcome to iRV2. On any older RV, be concerned about water leaks from the roof and the windows. Inspect the roof thoroughly.

If you get the Winnie, stop by the Winnebago Owners Forum and introduce yourselves with some photos of the rig.

My husband and I just bought a MH that is 18 years old,,new to us. We feel with 82,000 miles on a Cummins Diesel engine and in new condition we made an excellent choice. We have been doing maintaince work on the roof and other minor repairs and we are very happy with our "new home".It really does not matter what year the coach is if you have it completely checked out and you feel at home in it.Buy it and live life to the fullest.

Welcome J Michael & Maggie,
Let us know when you make your decision to buy. We'll get together and lift a glass in celebration.
