newby with problems

Just had our first shake down weekend with a 2001 Fifth Avenue by Thor 5th wheeler and had some problems when we put one slide back in. The slide seemed to stick at the bottom -- then broke free and went in. Upon checking it out at home, I discovered that the plastic covering on the bottom of the slide had cracked and broken in a couple of places. I also saw alot of duck tape where it evidently has been happening for some time along the bottom of the one slide.

My question is: Is this a common occurance? Was it caused by not being perfectlly level? Hearing from anyone with similar experiences would be helpful...Thanks!

It's not common. Probably caused by a bad adjustment or a bad roller.

Thanks Hitchhiker--I will check into the possibility of bad adjustment. Because there is duck tape in several places across the 14 ft wide slidek, I doubt that it is a roller. Again, thanks...10thcav

Being exactly level is not to much of a problem. However, if you are several inches off level it puts a larger strain on the mechanisms and rollers, in my opinion. My driveway has a large slope. I will only put the slide out a small way to be able to get to things when packing.

Good luck.

Wayne: Thanks--I think that being out of level contributed to the situation. Regards, Jim
