Hello all,
I have already asked a couple of questions in the Class A forum, these were to help me in my descision making process. But I (and of course my lovely wife) are now the proud owners of a 2000 Winnebago Journey 36G. It has 72K, new tires and had the airbags on the suspension replaced. We broke down and purchased from a dealer, they have told us that they will fully service (oil, filters etc) the engine and the genny (the 7500 Quiet diesel). It seems strange/madness to both of us that we are RV people. Let me explain before I am boo'd off stage! We currently own all manor of VeeDubs, We have a TDi Beetle (300K), 3 Vanagaons, and a 4th that has been cut short as a tow behind. Also have 1/3rd shares in a Eurovan Weekender and 2 Rialtas (how many vehicle does one man need, right!) But this is a serious RV 36ft Diesel pusher, what have we done! To make matters worse the DP is in NH and we live 600 miles away. So we saw it, liked it, had to leave for a pre planned hospital visit and then sent my father-in-law to do the paperwork. We wont get to see it again until Christmas. To make matters worse we purchased it before the dealer had a chance to clean it properly so we dont even have any pictures.
Our main reason for buying one is that next year we are going to drive NH to IL via Canada to then do Historic Rte 66 IL to CA and then CO and possibly MT (talk of Mt Rushmore in there as well!) before heading east again.
I know there is a wealth of info on the forum (I am no stranger to forums (espically VW)) and know I will immerse myself completely. I am sure there wil be numerous questions from this newbe as well.
Always open to any information RV in general Journey specif or even RTE66 or just "Glamping" in general.

Welcome to the irv2 gang! We're glad you're here. You said you are not new to forums, but I'd say you're not new to vehicles either. I think your pix confirms your "strong interests in VWs." That said, it seems that you probably have a lot of knowledge to share on these forum pages. Jump right in!

The buses were one of those things, like pistachios, you can never just have one. Also have you ever had a vanagon, I assume not. If you had you would know that you need more than one so you have something to drive when one breaksdown (when not if). My 85 is my daily driver and the mechanic and I have a love hate relationship with it, he calls it Satan. We put a balanced engine in that runs so smooth, but there is an electrical gremlin that we just cant trace. So after 2 years of sparodic over night stays in gas stations and walmarts or where ever it broke down. I have pulled the trigger and having a subaru engine installed. This may be my toad but I also have a tdi beetle, a 4runner as well as a 76 Mercury (ford) capri II, and of course a few other vanagons. Have attached some VW porn below, you never know this maybe my toad!!
