We have been looking for a family friendly DP/RV floor plan (w/bunks) for a couple of months. The Damon Astoria was on our list. While on a business trip this week I saw an Astoria on a lot on Rt 43 near Sheboygan WI and pulled in and looked it over. They also had an '08 KS and while it wasn't the floor plan we wanted, the quality sold me over the Damon PE. They showed me the 3943 floor plan... I really liked it.

I didn't have time to drive it while in WI but I will be in DC this coming week and Houston the following week. Does anyone know of a pleasant (willing to answer a bunch of questions)dealer in these areas? I will have more time in Houston so a 1-2 hour drive from there would work. I only have a couple of hours to spare in DC so it would need to be close to the Falls Church area.

One more question and maybe I should post this in a separate post but I'll try here. In addition to the bunks offered in the 3943 we would like a tub/shower combo. The salesman at the dealership in WI said that Newmar would be able to put one they offer in the DS with some engineering charge. Does anyone know if this a true statment? While not a deal breaker a tub would be a plus for us.

Thanks

Welcome cgs500 to the Newmar forum and irv2.
Looking at your floor plan 3943 the bath looks tight for a tub shower but when you order the coach they maybe able to do something for you.
When you do your build sheet with options your dealer can contact Newmar for your request.
The second TOPIC of the forum has all the coachs for 2008 and dealers.
Dealers in TX.
There are no dealers in D.C. area but you can use link to Newmar for Dealer locations.
Good luck in your quest for a MH and come join in if its a Newmar.

You may also want to check out Newmar's All Star series. The 4154, for instance, has bunk beds in it, with a separate queen sized bed. And you'll find the quality level is still up from Damon.

Ron Hoover in Houston has the Ventana 3942 on the lot. The floor plan is almost identical to the KS 3943.

The one on the lot has been custom ordered with closet instead of bunks. I'm going to be close for business, so I'll be checking out tomorrow. I hope it's close enough to give me a good feel for how the KS 3943 would look, at least for the front living area.

I got a chance to look at the Ventana 3942 in Houston. This particular model has closet in lieu of bunk beds, but it was enough for me to see the layout first hand.

In my opinion, the KS 3943 and Ventana 3942 are almost identical floorplans. for me, I would probably do the round table versus the dinette.

Here are some large pictures (45MB):

I'm not a professional, so I forgot to hide myself in the mirror and I left my drinks on the counter.

I also got to look at the Allstar 4153. Another nice coach.

Thanks a metric ton for posting those pictures. Its such a PIA to get pics of that floor plan and seeing them has helped my wife and I a great deal. If we ever meet up at a rally somewhere I owe you dinner.

You just helped a great deal in our decision making process.

Thanks!
