NY to Southwest Newbies

The wife and I are on a journey...

We are from Upstate NY( Albany ) and when my repair shop business went down the tubes, we thought maybe now was a good time to get somewhere warm...So we sold the house, for what we could get, bought a old used RV ..a clean 95 30ft Class A Holiday rambler w/ 24k on it...And away we went pulling a toad.
Money is tight, so we thought the RV thing would be cheaper and more fun...not sure about the cheaper... But it is alot more fun. We are both around the age of 45.
We are making our way to Phoenix area and Vegas...Looking for a place to live..get jobs etc...With no hurry...
We've been on the road for 2 weeks now...and currently are just out side little rock AR.
Being my first RV..(I've never even slept in on, until now )..It's OK. I think a bigger one , diesel , with a slide or 2 ..Is order , someday down the road...After I am settled somewhere...

Well, that's my story... We are in the mind set, we only live once... and who knows if either of will ever even make it to retirement age...

My wife and I started on "a journey" back in 1999. We had sold our business and had every intention of opening another somewhere else but I (we) needed a break and I suggested that we take a 6 - 12 month trip in our RV which we had previously only used for 2-3 week trips in the past. We made 5 months before my wife's mother became terminal. What a blessing that we were able to spend the last 2 months with her mom while we had pleasant living quarters.
We returned home and started to look at what/where we would open our next business, but it was too late, we were hooked on travel. We have been on the road full-time since 2001 and cannot imagine ever going back. We found a way to earn some money on the road and surprisingly enough it actually turned into a business that we could only do by traveling. Sweet!
Be careful. You may end up with the rest of us gypsy's out here who are having way too much fun to return anything even approaching our previous lives.

Sorry about your mother in law.. My Father is not so well right now..not real bad, but could turn at anytime.

I think if I had a source of income. I could do this full time.
I'll have to keep my eyes open.
