Old Couple but New to IRV2

My wife and I were retired for a few years before getting the Rv bug.

Years ago when the kids were still home we had a pop up camper and then also did some tent camping. Served as a Boy Scout leader while my son earned eagle rank so got to do a lot of tent camping.

Three years ago my wife and I were watching a series on public tv about our national parks and realized just how much beauty there was to see in this country; and, how little of it we had actually seen in person.

So one thing led to another and bought a used 24' Chinook. After putting 45,000 miles and a lot of this country behind us over 3 years, we decided a little more space would be nice, so bought a used 28' Born Free RSB.

As so many of you already know, it is really a great life style and the best way to see our country up close and personal. While we are not full timers, we try to make as many trips each year as possible.

Living in the Denver area, we usually hang up the keys from November to March, and use the time to plan what to see and do for the upcoming year.

Have really enjoyed reading many of the great ideas, tips and problem solutions on this site. It was also a great help in deciding on what type of unit to buy.

We have found RV'ers among the friendliest folks around and look forward to meeting many more in the years ahead.
Good luck to all

John & Janet:

Hi from South Dakota, and a BIG WELCOME to the iRV2 gang.

We've sure enjoyed your Denver area when we've been visiting there and sure hope to return again. We're full timers (since 05) and travel in a motorhome, but as the years go by that little cabin with a Born Free next to it starts to look kind of interesting. Trouble is, we can't pick a place.

Which Born Free do you have??....and how's it work out when traveling?

Anyway, again, WELCOME.

Steve & Lynette

Hi John & Janet! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you decided to join the group! You'll fit right in since we were thinking about changing the name of the forum to "Old Geezers Fourm" . We need some help to keep those young whippersnappers around here in line! We look forward to your input on the forum! If you ever get to MS be sure to give us a call! Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

We bought a 2009 Born Free. It is 28' long and on the Chevy Kodiak chassis. It is the rear (passenger) side bed model and we absolutely love it. We chose not to tow a vehicle, and feel this unit is still small enough to get us around to see anything we want once we get to our destination.
Bought it in Florida from the original owner and drove it back with all systems o.k.
Just got back from a week in Co. mountains and going again when Aspen start changing.
Started going to Colorado mountains when we lived in Texas years ago and decided we loved them so much, wanted to be closer.
The last colorado campground we visited had a young couple (compared to us) managing from South Dakota. Great folks and very friendly. Must be that South Dakota water!!
Take care and happy travels
