Old Froggy Biker

Good morning everyone I'm 62 and living in south of France . Daughter in Montreal and best friends in Naples FL. I travel in NorthAmerica 2 or 3 times a year . I enjoy ski and ride Skidoo in Quebec cause I've worked 20 years in Val Thorens , a 7000' high ski resort in the french Alps . I've just sold my old van and looking for an used classA gas RV (1 or 2 slides) for next spring . I'm retired and now go allover Europe on bike track days just for fun . So I have to get my new RV for march 2015 to storage my 2 metal "Appaloosa" ! I'm riding on Ducati 848 and I've just ordered a LS218 ELightning bike in San Carlos CA . This bike won PPeak Hill Climbing last year , it's an electric one , so powerfull !
Friend of mine told that Newmar was one of the best RV manufacturers , specially for slides out models , is't true ? For french registration , I have to check exactly the overall width of the coach : MAXI 100" or 8' 4" or 255cm !!! And maxi length : 39' 8" or 12m That's the french touch

I don't wait for a lot from life now , just the best

Welcome and glad to meet you!

No doubt, Newmar is a fine brand, but then again there are MANY fine brands, with many models from each. The trick is to find something you can get in Europe. Good luck and safe travels!

You might have a problem with the width. Almost all Class A models are 8' 6" (259.1 cm) these days. Maybe you can get a waiver for the extra 4 cm! If they measure over everything, rather than just the body, the awning may add to the width.

At least you won't have the problem that UK buyers have with US-built rigs, having to drive from the curb side.

Hello Frank , Eileen , Medico and everyone

Thank's for infos , my daughter in Montréal has just found out a nice Newmar KA 37 CBSA RV , it's 96" wide body , perfect with one big slide and 45mM . Only 1 owner from new (parents of a daughter's friend) , all papers and books and services . I think it will be OK for me , but now it's storaged till March for wintertime , no matter , just to wait . I'm looking for the best shipping quote from Halifax to Liverpool and we'll transform to french specs there in England . Better rate and better job than in France

Arrivederci !

Wow, what a deal for you. Our Georgetown was also a one-owner rig - a retired couple like us. It has been a good vehicle for us, but with the recent escalations of campground fees and fuel, we've decided that, in our early 70s, enough already. It looks like the consignment dealer we placed it with has found a buyer, albeit at a lot less than we'd hoped to get.

That's life ! When you're buying , it's always so expensive and so cheap when you're selling . And now , no more RV trips ? What's the exact price to-day in the US for a gas gallon ? In France we have to pay 4.62€ average for an oil gallon , 5.50€ for gasoline and 3€ for LPG gallon .
Here 85% of these prices are taxes !!! Yes Sir ! Gerard

Dear Frank and Eileen , don't forget what always said to me my italian grand-ma : " Old age is when yours regrets are upper than yours dreams " . There no age to be old (or young)

Gasoline prices have dropped significantly in the last couple of months. In the Northwest we're down to about $2.70/US gallon (71 cents a liter). In Oklahoma it's down below $2.00.

Yes, Gerard, no more RV trips, unless we rent occasionally. It's not age, specifically, but reduced mobility due to arthritis. Also, the expenditure was a drain on our limited post-retirement income and savings that we just can't afford.
