Greetings, We are 72 year old RVers currently in an '07 Allegro Bus. Our first RV was an Apache pop-up in Alaska from 64-66. The 2nd was a Coleman popup in Colorado from 69 to 74. Number three (our first Class A) was an 18 foot '72 Winnebago Brave. We put 120,000 miles on it and sold it in '84. Next was a 32 foot '98 Bounder that we had from '98 until '03. We put 80,000 on it. In '03 we traded it for a new 38 foot Allegro Bus (50,000 miles). We are now in an '07 Allegro Bus with 35,000 on it. We have a stick house near Charleston, SC. It's our seventeenth house, but we are there less than half the time. We always leave in May and return in October when the hurricanes are done and the oysters are back in season. Other shorter trips add another couple of months on the road per year. Long sessions on the mid coast of Maine have been typical lately. I guess we have a third of a million miles of RVing and have no plans to stop yet. I look forward to participating on the forum and contributing when I can. There is a link to my travel blog available on this site.

Welcome to iRV2, folks. Your vast RVing experience is very welcome here - please don't hesitate to contribute to the ongoing discussions.
Like you, we spend about half of our time in our '04 American Tradition and the rest at our stick house in the Ocala National Forest near Ocala, FL.

No doubt you'll have some valuable experience to share here. Don't be shy about doing so.
And your South Caroloina accent is hardly noticable.

I thought I noticed a slight "twang."
Some time in the future we'll be askin' 'bout the Maine adventures.
Welcome!

Welcome fcloutier,
We like the Charlestown area but have not been there in the motorhome. It's been a long time since we've been to Maine, again not in the motorhome. Sure would like to know where you go and where you stay.

Our favorite spot on the Maine coast is Belfast in the mid-coast region on Penobscot Bay. It is much less touristy and expensive than places like Old Orchard Beach, Camden, and Bar Harbor; yet it is only an hour or less to dozens of day trip spots such as Acadia National Park. We stay at the Moorings RV Resort where every site has an ocean view. Being right on the water the sites do not have sewer, but there is free bi-weekly "honey wagon". Also most sites are 30 Amp, but the owners "may" have upgraded them for the 2011 season. We team up for frequent lobster boils, five-o-clock happy hours and other events. You can walk the shore at low tide and pick up six dozen mussells for supper in 15 minutes.
