One dollar Wanda

Hi everyone!

On July 17th, 2013 I picked up my new to me 1985 Winnebago Elandan 34 footer from a covered storage lot in Parksville BC, Canada where she had sat for 2 years. I bought her for a dollar from a friend who was recently widowed and was just going to junk her due to her age.

I live in Calgary so my first task was to get her started and get her home. It was a wild 1000km plus ride to say the least. Four fan belts, one alternator and a whole lot of turning the steering wheel left as I applied the brakes to keep the old girl out of the ditches and there she was sitting in front of the house in Calgary.

By the time I put her into winter storage in early October 2013. I had installed a washer/dryer combo in the wardrobe compartment, replaced the fridge and furnace with new units and serviced the two roof top AC units.

Replaced the front pads, brake hoses and calipers, put new front tires on her and installed a NAVI double din deck in the dash. I also pulled the exhaust manifolds and replaced the gaskets to get rid of the many exhaust leaks.

I took her back out of storage in late April of this year and she now has new rear tires, rear brake pads, new front air bags and no more @#$#!@^% roof leaks!

I want to thank you all for the knowledge that you share here. I have learned an incredible amount about how to get and keep the old girl running!

This site ROCKS!

Welcome to iRV2 forum and I'm glad you posted. Gotta see pictures of this interesting coach. I looked at the brochure for this coach

http://www.winnebagoind.com/products...landan-bro.pdf

and it is one of the more interesting one I've ever read. Did you know they actually dropped a fully loaded upside down Elandan 3 feet onto solid concrete just to see what would happen to windows and doors? Looks like you have a winner here. However I think you may have overpaid for her......NOT!

Welcome. That sounds like it was the deal of the decade on that rig. And with all of the improvements that you made, you will have a nice RV that you know works and know all about how it works.

Welcome and glad to meet you!

Good luck on finding and fixing all those pesky little things. We also had some of these things happen on this trip, so I can relate. Have a ball!

Howdy from SC. I see you joined almost a year ago, and quite understandably too busy to do any posting. But welcome to the forums and glad to hear you made a lot of progress on your MH

Good looking One Dollar Wanda. Did the black guitar case come with it?
