After looking into motorhomes for the last 3 years, and taking a 2.5 week trip around the great lakes in a tent, we have decided having our own bathroom and bed was something we wanted in our life.

After looking all fall, we finally found a home we liked: A 1997 Damon Outlaw. We flew out to Idaho last Sunday, and on Tuesday started driving it back. This forum was invaluable for our research over the last year. We bought the RV at Bish's and they treated us like we bought a brand new diesel pusher rather then a 5 year old gasser.

I do have 1 question - I understand how to use the parking brake - Except when the jacks are down. When I turn the key it howls b/c the brake is engaged, but I can't disengage the brakes b/c if I do the jacks will all immediately retract. Any ideas?

Can't wait to get it back and start personalizing it. We are going to be turning the garage into a bedroom. Right now we are sleeping on the hide-a-bed. The 10yo has claimed the shrimpy upper bedroom as his own.

It's holding up well in this weather - hopefully nothing freezes until I get it back home and winterize it!

Why would you want the Key on when the jacks are down. Just asking. Also do you have a 1997 or 2007. The five year old got me asking. Enjoy yourselves as I know you will. Keep in touch and ask if you have any trouble winterizing.

Welcome to IRV2. Congrats on the nice rig. Hoping you will get many years of enjoyment. We used to tent when we were young and the kids were little. Now at 60, there is no way! Have a safe trip home!

Thanks everyone. It is a 2007 - not a 1997. Just finished the 1900 mile trip back to the house. Everything worked great - I think I have the whole autopark thing figured out. Now I have to figure out how to wire the coach up to the house so I can keep enjoying it during the winter....

Is your power panel inside the coach a 30 amp or 50 amp?
