Planning on Full TIme in the next Year

I have been lurking on the website for a while and my husband and I are planning nf Full timing in the next year to 18 months. I am 43 and had to retire from my paramedic job of 23 years due to an on the job injury that disabled me. The hubby is 5 years older and mostly takes care of me. Our boys are (almost) (22 and 19) grown and we are pushing them out of the nest so we can sell the house. Our other son is in the Army and in South Korea. We are thinking a 5er, put still open to a DP. We are still considering the pros and cons of both. We can't wait to get on the road! We both love this website and it has made our decision to go full time much easier. He took some convincing, but now he is excited. Especially after me reading many posts to him about how happy the full timers were! Just wanted to introduce myself and the hubby. Can't wait to see some of you on the road!

Welcome Greg and Jeri! I'm 43 too and retired, and my DW and I are also looking to start fulltiming next year.. hopefully in March. At least that is our goal. This forum has been incredibly helpful to us too.

Ok, I know what a DP is as that's what we're looking to get... but forgive my ignorance.. what is a 5er? Is that a fifth wheel?

Welcome! Make sure what ever RV you get is approved and warrented for "full Time Living"! There is a huge difference in "Four Season" and "Full Time" RV's. Four season simply means you can "use it" in any of the four seasons. Good luck!

We have been doing a ton of research and we are thinking about an Exel or Mobile Suites. The research I am doing is leaning more toward the Exel since it seems to have an aluminum frame instead of wood, but I will continue research before making the plunge. We will buy used and not new. We were talking today and we are going to start going through our belongings and selling off what the kids don't want. It was very liberating to make that decision! I have a brand new car that is paid off, so we are also going to keep an eye out for someone coming off the road with a nice 5ER and truck that is already set up that may want to do some trading. We are also sizing up work camp opprotunities because I don't think the DH can take not having some type of work to do. So excited to get the ball rolling.
