ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!
Had leaking in power steering/with hydra boost aid to parking brakes(mechanic said this was changed in later models)
Mechanic replaced "O" ring and attempted to purge air from the system. He left us to complete the process. Over the next day we repeatedly worked the steering wheel from side to side and pumped the brakes. After a few minutes of this his instructions were to shut off the engine and remove the reservoir lid, the foam (airated power steering fluid) would pour out.It appeared that we were not getting anywhere. We called the mechanic, who told us to run the engine for 1-2 hours with the reservoir cap in place which we did.The power steering system was still making a lot of noise, and the brake pedal would create a squelching noise when depressed.
The brakes and the power steering appeared to be operating just fine,so at this point we left home on a trip to Loisville Ky.The noise continued all the way there and an additional prblem surfaced. When the gear shift lever was placed in park the transmission would still be in neutral until the engine was shut off.In Louiville I took the unit to an RV repair shop where the mechanic spent 4 hours over the next three days attempting to purge the system of air. Before he did that he disconnected the drive shaft, removed a cover from the transmission and examined the brake shoes which are part of the parking brake system.(He told me it was futile to attempt to purge the system if the shoes were worn down or out of adjustment. He found the shoes to be in good condition, but did adjust them.In the end he had improved the noise about 75% and had eliminated the brake pedal noise. We left for home and as the journey progressed the noise increased and the brake pedal squelch returned.
This is where we are currently $600.00 lighter from the repair bills and no better off.I went to the local RV repair shop where they declined to get involved.
