Power problem

Hello, I just joined today. I have a 2007 Country Coach Allure 430, 40' pusher with a Cummins ISL 400. It has an Onan 8.0 KW generator. I can not get 50 amps to the house. I used a VOM to check the generator and both sides of the relays. They all read 121 to 122. When I turn on both AC's the load meter in the coach reads 28 amps. When I turn on the refrigerator, the amps go over 30 and the rear air stops but the fan continues to operate. The front ac continues to operate properly. Is there another breaker somewhere other than at the front of the generator? When I plug into shore power, I get the full 50 amps and it displays it on the meter. When the generator is on, the meter only displays 30 amps. Can anyone help?

Are you sure you have a 50 amp generator. I have 50 amp power box for shore power but my generator is only 30 amps. What is the rating on the breaker for the refer and the A/C's. Each one of my A/C's have their own 15 amp breakers and the refer also has a 15 amp breaker.

I do not have any problems running all three on my generator. However, I do start them one at a time.

When you said you are reading 121 to 122 are you talking volts or amps?

50 amp shore power is really 100 amps or 12,000 watts (2 X 50 X 120). Your generator is 8,000 watts or 66.67 amps. That puts 33.335 amps on each leg.

I assume that when you say you plug in to shore power it's to a 50 amp supply?

Welcome to IRV2! Just a suggestion, but you will probably get more answers to your question if you put it in the RV Systems section. Good luck & God bless!

I'm guessing you have an Energy Management System.. This system has a sense lead (Wire) that tells it you are getting power from the generator,, This wire has a fuse, it may be "inline" or it may be at one end or the other... That's all I know about it.

Also, it may be broken, not hooked up or the circuit either feeding or sensing it could be toast.
