Just saying hello. I am in the market for a used diesel pusher. I have the RVConsumer group CD's and they are steering me towards a 96 Safari Serengeti. My wife and I are planning to full time and wonder if anyone has full timed in a Serengeti and how is it in colder weather. The only drawback that I can see is that the one I am looking at has a propane generator. RVConsumer lists the Serengeti as suitable for snowbirding but I am not sure what their criteria is. They show the temp range for usage for fulltime and snowbirding as the same 30-90F. So I don't know what else you would look at. I will be doing mostly workcamping when I can. For extended stays in colder areas I was planning on getting propane service with a bigger external bottle. I have seen RV'ers doing this for extended stays at Military RV sites. Hi, Bob & welcome! I'm fairly new here myself, but wanted to "chip in" on '96 Serengeti. I bought a '96 Monaco Windsor 36' and it has the propane gen. I have not had any problems with it, but would rather had the diesel gen. I don't have any slides on mine and that would really make a difference when considering "full time" RV'ing. I spent Dec. in Portland in '03 and didn't have any problem with the weather, but there are a lot of "colder" places. Good luck with making your choice. I don't regret mine.

Thanks Marilyn & Bob for the welcome. I'll be staying in the Southern Maryland area. It gets down into the teens 20's for a short time during Dec Jan. Everyone says they regret having the propane gen set. I was thinking about dry camping concerns. But, I don't think my wife can make 100 gallons of water last to long so it may not be an issue. I am lined up for a Camp Host position at Point Lookout State Park after labor day. They have 30 amp elec. So maybe careful use of some electric heaters may be the way to go. Bob & Sharon
