My wife and I just bought a Lance 1685 travel trailer. We have pulled a tiny 10 foot Canadian trailer in the past. We're looking forward to what seems to us like so much more room, and everything works!

First question would be to ask what people think about extended warranties for a travel trailer. The dealer handed us a brochure for XtraRide, but didn't try to sell it at all, just said it was something we should consider.

We don't normally buy extended warranties, but wonder how much stuff goes wrong with all the appliances, seals, etc. on a travel trailer.

Thanks for any input.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new rig!

I've got lots of opinions on when and why extended warranties might make sense but only as it pertains to motorhomes so I can't help you with the TT question. I would sure think though that if you get a 1 year factory warranty (was it a new unit?) you'd be fine. It's a little different than wanting to protect yourself against having to replace a blown diesel engine...

Feel free to ask any questions you might have. There's a lot of folks hanging out here who know stuff.

Good luck...

Rick

Ritch, I've heard good things about XtraRide however, for me an extended warranty is not a good value. If you're the kind of person that can't fix things then a EW may be good for you.

Welcome richtf. have to agree with Kix that normally EW on a TT is probably a waste of money. To date everything that has gone wrong on my 5er would have fell inside the deductable. Only thing that was covered by mfg warranty was AC that went bad within 6 months after installation this past summer

Welcome Rich,
I guess you see that you have come to the right place to find the answers to any questions you might have. Enjoy your new TT.

Thanks to all for your input. Pretty much what I already felt. I'm handy (retired contractor) and fix most things myself around home. Sure hoping that not much goes wrong with a brand new trailer anyway.
