RV Dealerships in TX Reviews/Opinons

Any input would be appreciated! I am trying to figure out which RV place to purchase a 5th wheel. I came across this site & figured would ask for anyone's experience with buying their RV. I've looked at Camping World and now considering Ancera in Boerne, Tx.
How was your buying experience? How about after the sale?

Welcome to the forum!

We bought from Holiday World of Houston; never again. If we ever buy another RV, we will be shopping at Motor Home Specialists in Alvarado.... Texas RV Dealer, Used RVs for sale, motorhome sales, new RVs We'll be shopping the best deal, even if we have to drive a ways for it. Service after the sale is usually pitiful no matter which dealer you choose. Good luck!!

X2 on Motor Home Specialist. I have purchased two RV's from them and was very happy with both transactions.

We bought our first motorhome from Holiday World in Katy, won't do any more business with them. Shopped far and wide for our Dutch Star and bought from Coachlight RV in Carthage MO. Even with them being located 600 miles from home it was worth it.

I had a price from Ancira for the Dutch Star, they were the most expensive of 12 dealerships that quoted. However, they had serviced my last motorhome on two occasions and did a great job.

NOT Camping World of Houston (Katy).

NOT Camping World of San Antonio (New Braunfels).

"Maybe" Crestview in Buda (Austin).

Probably Ancira or Motor Home Specialists.

We just went by Ancira on our way to Kerrville this weekend,... that's one BIG auto/rv dealership !!!

Did I miss where you said,
motorhome, 5er, tt, and new or used ?

If you are after new, I can only help with new 5er and only to say RUN away from ExploreUSA and the "read - would"

If after a used motorhome...
I have had an EXEMPLARY purchase and service from Professional RV Sales in Colleyville, Tx.
small dealer that has taken care of us to the point of we got three times the rv we every thought we could have and a free first trip on our used unit such that they will fix the items we discover....
If you really are sad and think nobody cares, just try missing a few payments ! '11 Monaco Diplomat 43DFT RR10R pushed by a Demco Excali-Bar II hitch which is pushed by a '14 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport.

X2 on Prosales RV for the sales process. They were true to their word and fixed everything I asked for and everything they said they would address. But for service after the fact you may want to look elsewhere.

Please stay away from Motorhome Specialists. I was skeptical about the reviews I read regarding them just trying to get the sale out the door but it's true.

I purchased a $110,000 motorhome from them. They rushed us through the paperwork saying all the time that we would "take a test drive as soon as someone's available - but until then, lets do some paperwork"

During the test drive, we noticed a check engine light on. They said it was common but would check on it. We noticed a couple of other things too and they said they'd take care of it. We stayed in the RV for the night and left on Sunday, when they were closed.

20 miles outside the dealership, the check engine light comes on. According to Ford, all they did was turn it off. They didn't even look what the error was. They didn't fix any of the mechanical stuff we asked them to but we had to get back for work the next day.

Here's the bottom line. they will say anything to scam you into taking the unit. Once you drive it off the lot, you're not their problem any more. I drove my unit 1 day and it spent the next 45 days in the shop and it's still not fully fixed.

Motorhome Specialists will tell you every lie in the book to get you out the door. I would have gladly spent a few more bucks for a different unit had they been forthcoming but now my life's purpose is to protect anyone from buying from Motorhome Specialists. Please protect yourself and your investment and go somewhere else where they will be truthful and honest and stand by their word and products.

RVOutlet mall gets better reviews than Crestview.

My advice:
Look anywhere and everywhere. This allows you to find the right RV for you. Once you know what you want (make and model) then it's likely time to consider where to buy it. Your options on where to go for that unit will be limited and that will help make a choice for you..

Once we found our make/model, we used RV trader to price it in a wide geography. This will cut through a lot of the initial pricing BS that dealers do. For some models there are low margin outlet sales (out of state). It's going to short you on a local service option, but looking around in Texas, it's not like anyone stands out for good post-sale service.

We bought in Georgetown. I'd say the sales experience was good/ok, minus getting pushy having our wire show up late on their end. With reviews, you need to really sort out the sales reviews from the service reviews, because they can be ENTIRELY different experiences. Once you've paid, your leverage is out the door.

Ask them (before you sign) - how soon can you get my unit in for repairs if there are issues? Ask them if they're willing to guarantee it post sale and have them write it down. That last bit being most important.

Remember if you're buying a traditionally build RV, most of them have issues.. Most don't have serious issues, but chances are better than not that you'll have it back in. Best defense for that is a fanatical PDI inspection that you're not rushed through...
